Referring Patients to Recovery International
Most patients with fears, anxieties or physical symptoms from a psychological cause can be referred to Recovery International self-help groups as soon as the problem is identified. People with chemical dependence or substance abuse can also be referred once the addiction has been controlled.
Recovery International meetings offer:
Reassurance through meeting people with similar issues who have found a way to live a more healthy life;
Help through learning and practicing a simple set of professionally developed coping techniques which encourage personal growth and improved health;
Understanding of what others are going through;
A safe place to express feelings and fears without being judged;
Hope through meeting others who have learned to cope with everyday events more effectively;
Support and acceptance that may be lacking at home, school or work; and
Encouragement to keep trying.
There is no required fee, registration, appointment, waiting or screening to attend Recovery International meetings.
