morning workup I am up having coffee, beginning to dread the day, what I must do, what I haven't done, what could happen. I begin to work myself up.
symptoms: nervous fatigue, anxiety, stress, tenseness, humorlessness.
Spot - fearful temper - bad things are going to happen. Danger. Financial ruin. Rejected by women. Doomed to a life of poverty and misery.
Distressing not dangerous, Do things in part acts, move the muscles, stay in movement, focus on next indicated item. Focus on total view not partial view.
Before recovery I would have had no method of coping with the distressing symptoms, save to sleep and try to avoid.

Pmealy is making a business out of his mental health, it is not a game. He has the will to effort in working down his tempers. Discomfort is to be humbly tolerated, patiently borne, and bravely faced. He is average and not exceptional. Calm begets calm and temper begets temper. He can function in spite of his symptoms. He is choosing to do the things he fears and/or hates to do. We get well in direct proportion to the amount of discomfort that we are willing to bear. We don't wait to get well in order to do things, we do things in order to get well. Moving our muscles can diminish the defeatist babble of the brain. The muscles are the humble educators of the brain. Pmealy can endorse himself for his efforts and not only for the performance or even for the outcome. |

Accept or reject: possible sabotage of mental health through imagination on fire.
We learn to take matters in part acts.
We learn to self endorse for efforts made, not successes only.
Financial concerns are frequently strong links with nervous people.
Self endorsed people are secure people. |

Endorse for getting out of bed. Endorse for all your part acts.
Self endorsement in the present leads to sure and determined action in the future.
Strive for averageness. Nervous patients try to be exceptional because we fear we are less than average.
Take the total view, not the partial view.
Accept or reject - I spot use of temperamental lingo, words like "financial ruin" "doomed". Dr. Low said to use words that work ourselves down rather than work ourselves up.
Our mental health is a business not a game.
When we are endorsing we are not criticizing. |

Nervous patients suffer from seriousness. We are to avoid extremes and seek the firm middle ground. Fearful anticipation is often worse than realization. Do not accept the defeatist babble of the brain and suggestions of doom and gloom offered by the temperamental lingo. Reviewing and previewing. An endorsed person is a secure person.
He can endorse himself for; functioning with symptoms, commanding the muscles no matter how weak the mind was.

Nervous fatigue is at its height in the morning when we awaken, then dissipates as day progresses. to dispel nervous fatigue we can put one foot in front of the other. endorse for doing the latter. He functioned in spite of symptoms. A return of the symptoms is not a return of the illness. |

Self torture is the nervous patients favorite past time.
Nervous patients come to me after months and years of suffering. Their pessimistic views have gained depth and strength. Their pessimism has become a habit, hardened and crystallized by continued practice. Such habits pervade the organism, color every move and thought of the person and are not easily dislodged. MHTWT, Pg. 98-100
The nervous person tends to think in extremes.
In order to prevent the temperamental response the patient must be trained to ignore the whisperings of temperamental lingo. MHWT, P.24
Instead of a morning work up Dr. Low suggest the morning workout by moving the muscles to overcome the defeatest bablings of the brain. To be followed by large doses of self endorsements for all our efforts regardless of outcome.
To Be Able to Laugh at a Thing means to refuse to take it seriously. PvP pg 84;

We make our greatest gains when we practice Recovery in symptoms. We long to be exceptional, but fear we are less than average. Decide, plan and act and endorse for every step along the way. Change your insecure thoughts to secure thoughts.
Dr. Low tells us, "The bulk of suffering, which is the lot of my patients, does not stem from their 'dreadful' experiences, but rather from their frightening beliefs." Sel. p.62. Dr. Low also said to expect setbacks and do not be alarmed by them. They are phasic and not basic.
Nervous patients suffer seriousness and humor can be a great antidote. Helplessness is not hopelessness. You can't be comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. |
