Step 1: My grandmother's health is starting to fail- both physically & mentally. Recently my mother went to visit her (she lives out of town) & she brought me back something things from my grandmothers house that she was not using. Most of the items still had tags on them & had never been used. Among the items where some art supplies-paints & canvases. My grandmother used to be a great painter. This is when I began to get worked up.

Step 2: I had feelings of guilt & racing thoughts. I felt my grandmother deserved these items, even though she could not/ has not been able to use them. I felt tightness in my chest & numbness in my arms & legs. I had some angry temper at my mother for taking these things from my grandmother.

Step 3: I spotted that this situation is average & not an emergency.
I choose to replace an insecure thought with a secure one. My grandmother would want me to enjoy & use these items.
Excuse, don't accuse. My mother was being group minded & was not trying to upset anyone. Nervous patients see intent when there is only accident.
Temper is the intellectual blindness to the "other side of the story."
It is hard to be comfortable in uncomfortable situation. Experiencing a loved one age & their health fail is uncomfortable. This is an average response.

Step 4: Before I had my Recovery training I would have worked myself up into a vicious cycle. I would have spent a lot of time pampering my thoughts & feelings. I may have packed the items away & avoided using them because of this.

I endorse myself for using my Recovery training! I am treating my mental health as a business & not a game.

Snowflake became objective and objectivity wipes out emotionalism.
She chose to see the total view rather than the partial view.
She had the will to effort and the will to bear discomfort.
Discomfort is to be humbly tolerated, patiently borne, and bravely faced.
She chose to be self-led and not symptom-led.
Her symptoms were distressing but not dangerous.
People do things that annoy us but not necessarily to annoy us.
Snowflake can endorse herself for all of her efforts and not only for her performance.

Dr. Low encouraged us to do just what the average person would do under similiar circumstances; we're not to be saints or martyrs.

We can feel guilty w/o being guilty.

Self endorse for the effort of reporting the incident and example.

There is more temper in the family than almost anywhere else.

One mental symptom not mentioned was confusion and that often leads naturally to imagination on fire.

This is an average situation, just the type of thing that the Recovery method was designed by Doctor Low to handle. This example shows the example giver applying the method while it is still just at the flare level and before it mushrooms into a full temper.

I will spot good average self leadership; self led rather than symptom led.

On average, most people don't make the type of internal changes to the thought process that is being made here. They for the most part just continue to suffer. It is up to us to spot the progress that is being made and to self endorse. Nice job done in this example of Recovery practice.

I spot on Snowflakes angry temper at her mother, in that her mother is outer environment. Dr. Low teaches us that outer environment is people, events, past, and future that we have no control over. Yet, we do have the choice to control our inner environment (our thinking, impulses, and muscles)

I spot there is no right or wrong in the trivialities of everyday life.

I spot on Snowflakes fearful temper of guilt of possibly receiving painting items that objective activities (intentionally moving muscles)can overcome the imagination that is on fire.

I spot the resoluteness of the muscles will overcome the defeatism of the brain.

Every act of self-control produces a feeling of self-respect.

Thanks for posting this example - Hurt feelings are feelings not shared and she did.
