The Power to Change for Schools/Children
In The Power to Change for Schools adolescents age 12 to 18 learn impulse control and how to manage their anger and fears. During the 12-session, peer-to-peer, self-help program students learn to take control of their lives instead of being victims of events or behavior of others.
The program provides simple but effective conflict resolution and anger management tools, such as, “We cannot change an event, we can only change our attitude toward it.” In these peer-to-peer settings, adolescents learn to trust and support each other by sharing stories of incidents which may cause them to lose their temper, followed by constructive comments from the group. This results in students moving toward calm, reasoned expression and analysis.
